Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband reaches 200M people
Wireless carrier Verizon recently announced that its 5G Ultra Wideband service is available to more than 200 million people. The carrier’s 5G service grants its customers across the continental U.S. faster download speeds and the ability to support data-heavy actions. Additionally, Verizon customers can use 5G Ultra Wideband to download large documents, seamlessly stream movies in high-definition audio and video and take part in video conference calls while on the move with clearer sound and video.
“Passing this new milestone provides more customers in more places with Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband mobile capabilities and fixed broadband,” said Joe Russo, Verizon EVP and President, Global Networks and Technology. “For years we have been building the most reliable multi-purpose 5G network. In addition to mobility service, this expansion allows us to be aggressive insurgents in home and business broadband internet markets across the nation, offering customers choice and superior services.”
A multi-faceted 5G solution
The combination of a solid spectrum position, extensive fiber ownership and incorporating advanced technologies created the foundation for Verizon’s multi-purpose network, according to the carrier. The formula helped establish a reliable and secure network that can accommodate a number of use cases such as mobility, private 5G solutions and fixed wireless access broadband for customers and small businesses.
Verizon’s wireless business internet solutions give customers connectivity right out of the box, according to the carrier. The company noted the connectivity is fast enough to handle businesses’ day-to-day operational needs in remote areas. It also provides flexibility for business operations and helps remote workers remain productive with dedicated, secure internet without having to worry about sharing bandwidth. Verizon’s connectivity can also act as a backup connection to minimize issues if an internet disruption occurs.
The 5G Ultra Wideband service can also power a Verizon Wireless Private Network, according to the carrier. This network can run an enterprise’s line-of-business operations while employees stay connected from different locations and IT remails in control of management.
Companies can also add devices to an internal network and coordinate with a business’ internet protocol (IP) addressing. Additionally, businesses’ internal support personnel can manage the network. This empowers businesses to make mobile solutions part of their infrastructure and extend their core computing network farther, quickly and easily.
From a public-safety perspective, Verizon Frontline is an advanced network and technology that’s been developed over 30 years in tandem with first responders. This network is designed to meet first responders’ unique and ever-changing needs.
What’s ahead for Verizon
Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband service is just the beginning, the carrier said. The company’s engineers have a lot more in store for 2023, including continued coverage expansion by introducing 5G Ultra Wideband service into more rural and suburban areas.
The carrier will also look to improve performance by deploying more spectrum as it becomes available and continue to build in new technologies that will allow customers to leverage customized experiences. Verizon also plans to continue to layer on additional capacity and higher performance by supplementing its nationwide network with 5G service on millimeter-Wave spectrum where “super robust network resources are needed.”
